Yasaman Mashhouri is a recorder player, Baroque violinist, conductor, interdisciplinary artist, and music educator from Tehran, Iran.
Her artistic practice forms a delicate and imaginative bridge between Baroque and Early Music traditions and contemporary modes of expression, often illuminated by the colours and memories of her Persian heritage.
She was a resident artist at the Verbier Festival (Creative Project Development 2023) and has performed at venues and festivals such as Bad Kissingen Winterzauber, the Süreyya Opera in Istanbul, Teatro Annibale Caro in Italy, and the Kleine Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg.
Her debut album, 3831, released by Kherad Art House, received wide acclaim and won the Barbad Prize for Best Instrumental Performance at the Fajr Music Festival.
Yasaman first completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Tehran but soon devoted herself entirely to music. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Recorder at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), followed by a Master’s degree in Recorder with a specialization in classical singing at the University of Music Nuremberg (HfM Nürnberg). She then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Baroque Violin at the University of Music Würzburg (HfM Würzburg).
She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Recorder Pedagogy with a specialization in Conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
She has been awarded scholarships multiple times by the Gstaad Baroque Academy. Based in Switzerland, Yasaman teaches music and conducts the Schwyz Recorder Orchestra.
Alongside performing and teaching, she focuses on creating interdisciplinary and imaginative projects—works in which music, performance art, and visual elements enter into a vivid, poetic dialogue, offering audiences an emotional and immersive experience.
